The Security Event: Blickfeld presents new 3D LiDAR for Highly Reliable Object Detection

LiDAR company Blickfeld will present its new Security 3D LiDAR “Blickfeld QbProtect” for the most demanding perimeter protection live at The Security Event in Birmingham.

The Munich-based LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) specialist Blickfeld will showcase its new 3D LiDAR sensor for perimeter protection, Blickfeld QbProtect, at The Security Event. The meeting of the international security industry will be held from April 30 to May 2, 2024, at the NEC Exhibition Center in Birmingham, UK. At its booth 5/M107, Blickfeld will demonstrate live how QbProtect detects objects entering a security zone and triggers an alarm based on the size of the object. This size-dependent alarm generation significantly reduces false alarm rates and elevates security to an unprecedented level.

The main advantages of Blickfeld QbProtect include:

  • Highly reliable object detection, regardless of size, speed, or color of objects, even in darkness, rain, and snow.
  • Object size-based alarm generation: Setting the object size at which an alarm will be triggered.
  • Integrated software provides results in common data formats directly to security systems such as intrusion detection systems.
  • Robust design: The housing is protected against dust and water ingress to IP67 standards.
  • Easy installation: Thanks to software on-device no external computer for data analysis is required; data and power are transmitted via Power-over-Ethernet.
  • Easy operation like a camera thanks to identical interfaces, robust construction, and sensor alignment through visual feedback. Through a web GUI, users can easily define, adjust, and place security zones using drag-and-drop functionality.

Andreas Bollu, Head of Security Solutions at Blickfeld, says: “With Blickfeld QbProtect, integrators and security managers at power plants, airports, and other critical infrastructures benefit from extremely reliable protection against unauthorized intrusion. The design of QbProtect is unique: it captures security zones using advanced laser and semiconductor technology and delivers precise 3D data. This data is analyzed with software optimized specifically for perimeter security on the device and transmitted without delay via standard interfaces to video management systems or intrusion detection systems. This makes the QbProtect a technology that is as easy to operate as a conventional video camera and significantly enhances the protection of high-security objects.”
